While building Knoetic, we've had the chance to speak with hundreds of Chief People Officers. This hasn't just helped Knoetic build a world-class analytics product and community of incredible CPOs. It’s also allowed us to compile a library of best practices, benchmarks and industry standards.
We consistently receive questions on company holiday policies. To help provide some guidance, we co-led a survey of CPOs in the Knoetic community, and asked them what holidays they offer PTO in their own organizations.
Overview
We collaborated with one of our most strategic clients, Lindsay Putzer (VP, People @ Curology) to better understand holiday policies across industries. The participating companies ranged in size from 50 to 10,000+ employees and spanned a broad set of industries.
Most common holidays
Both the average and median number of days offered were 11 with a maximum of 15 and a minimum of 6 days.

Floating holidays
26% of companies offer floating holidays. Both the average and median were 4 with a maximum of 10 days.

Mental health days
14% of companies offer mental health days with a maximum of 2 days offered.
