Common Reports: Attrition

Retaining top talent and reducing attrition are consistently top of mind for our users, from the People team to C-Suite to functional leadership.

We'll help you stay on top of—and reduce—undesirable attrition with our Attrition Analytics tool.

Our simple design makes it easy to track and understand trends that can help you understand where you are and mitigate risks for the road ahead.

Below is an overview of some of our most commonly used attrition reports:

  • Attrition Overall (including Annualized Attrition rates)
  • Attrition by Termination Reasons
  • Termination by Type (Voluntary/Involuntary) and Regretfulness
  • Attrition across DEI, departments, and managers—or any other value!

Company-Wide Attrition

View your organization’s attrition over a certain period of time with the steps below:

  1. Log into Knoetic and go to our Attrition Analytics page
  2. Choose the Time Period that best reflects your preferred view
  3. Add filters, if needed, to segment by Employment Types or specific employee groups
  4. Set your X-Axis to the desired time period (week, month, day, year)

Here is an example of an exportable Attrition report for the year, broken out by month:

  1. Want to go one layer deeper? Add a Data Group to stack your results by any HRIS/ATS value.
    1. For example, view your attrition stats by Gender, Tenure, or Department
  2. Review the data table beneath your chart to further understand your trends. This can be exported into a CSV for further analysis.
    1. For example, annualized attrition will show you your expected attrition if current trends continue

Attrition by Termination Reason

Find gaps and opportunities by understanding trends across the reasons why employees are leaving your organization. This graph will only be available if your "Termination Reason" field is accessible in Knoetic.

  1. Log into Knoetic and go to our Attrition Analytics page
  2. Choose the Time Period that best reflects your preferred view
  3. Add filters, if needed, to segment by Employment Types or specific employee groups
  4. Set your X-Axis to the desired time period (week, month, day, year) or "Termination Reason"

Here is an example of an exportable termination reasons report that also includes a breakdown of another field through Data Groups:

Attrition by Termination Type or Regretfulness

However your team codes or evaluates attrition, we can make the read-out simple & easy.

In addition to Termination Reasons, many teams will capture:

  • Termination Type = Was the attrition Voluntary or Involuntary
  • Termination Regretfulness = Was the attrition Regrettable or Non-Regrettable

Simply set up your Attrition report (similar to the process listed above) and change your X-Axis to "Termination Type" or "Termination Regretfulness" to review the coded values.

Attrition by DEI (or other HRIS values)

Many teams are focused on DEI, so below is an example of how you might build a report for that view—or across any other HRIS / ATS value!

For example, view Attrition by Gender over the last quarter:

For example, view month-over-month Attrition by Ethnicity over the last year:
